Diabetes is one of the leading causes of heart attack and cardiac illness. Almost 2-million new cases are reported every year because people do not understand the implications of diabetes. Dr. Anupam Srivastava says the most common definition of diabetes presented by patients is blood sugars higher than they should be. He treats diabetic patients daily. He explains that genetics and over weight play an important role in onset of diabetes.

Dr. Srivastava explained warning signs for diabetes: despite of normal appetite, increased thirst, frequently pass urine, easily fatigued, difficult to heal sores and wounds, repeated urinary tract infections.

Dr Srivastava explains that to prevent type 2 diabetes, one should exercise i.e. taking half hour walk five days a week is sufficient.  Another way to prevent diabetes is to lose 10% of your body weight. If you have any of the warning signs of diabetes you should see a doctor.
